2024 Ford E-Transit Custom – After the recent unveiling of its completely electric e-Transit sister, Ford has now shown the all-new Transit Custom that it has been working on. The next iteration of Ford’s best-selling light commercial vehicle will go on sale in 2023, and it will include a range of new body configurations in addition to EcoBlue diesel, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), and electric vehicle (EV) engine options.
2024 Ford E-Transit Custom Redesign
As was to be expected, the body of the Transit Custom and the e-Transit Custom are identical, giving both vehicles a very similar appearance. The grille, on the other hand, has been updated to include horizontal slits and expanded holes for the purpose of cooling the engine. On versions with just an internal combustion engine (ICE), the grille also has side intakes. Unfortunately, Ford did not add a photo gallery that highlighted the differences between the six trim levels. In spite of this, we are still able to recognize some of the distinctive design elements of the various trim levels from the group photograph. These include the unpainted bumpers and unique headlight graphics of the entry-level Base model, the aluminum-style skidplates of the Trail model, the extended side skirts of the Sport model, and the front-mounted charging port of the PHEV and EV versions of the vehicle.
The architecture that underpins the Transit Custom is being referred to as “all-new,” and it will be used by the upcoming Volkswagen Transporter. The conventional panel van, the double-cabin-in-van, the kombi, and the L-shaped bulkhead are all examples of the several bodystyles that are available. The model is available in two different lengths, as well as two different roof heights. It is anticipated that Ford would, at a later date, launch the passenger-focused Tourneo Custom, which will function as a family-friendly minivan.
There is a touchscreen measuring 13 inches that is used for the most recent iteration of the SYNC4 infotainment system within the cabin; however, it is not indicated if this feature is standard across the board or whether it is just available in the higher-end variants. Underneath the display, we can also make out a few touch-sensitive shortcuts that are constantly active. The steering wheel has a flat bottom and integrated buttons; it may tilt to provide an area for using the Mobile Office. The Ford Pro platform of software and linked services, which includes the Ford Pro Upfit Integration System, which enables digital vehicle conversions via the current infotainment panel, and the Ford Pro Mobile Service, which is meant to increase uptime, comes standard on all trim levels.
The ICE-only vehicle has an updated version of the EcoBlue diesel engine as its only propulsion option. It will be available with a range of power outputs, beginning with 109 horsepower (81 kW), going up to 134 horsepower (100 kW), 148 horsepower (110 kW), and 168 horsepower (125 kW, 170 PS), respectively. In addition to the basic six-speed manual gearbox that may be coupled with an optional mechanical limited-slip differential, the Transit Custom also comes standard with a new eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system that can be added as an option. According to Ford’s specifications, the auto AWD variant has a maximum towing capability of 2,500 kg.
The Ford Kuga and Escape plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are quite similar to the plug-in hybrid Transit Custom, which combines a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor and a battery. Although Ford has not disclosed the power output, our best bet is that it will be comparable to the 222 horsepower (165 kW) that the SUVs produce. The useable capacity of the 11.8 kWh battery allows for an electric driving range of up to 57 kilometers (35 miles), and owners may also use it to power tools and equipment with the ProPower Onboard system. Finally, the completely electric e-Transit is equipped with a bigger 74kWh battery that provides a WLTP range of 236 miles (380 km) and a larger electric motor that produces 214 horsepower (217 horsepower / 160 kW) and 415 Newton-meters (306 pounds-feet) of torque.
2024 Ford E-Transit Custom Revealed
At the International Automobile Exhibition (IAA) in Hanover, Ford will present the brand new Transit Custom and e-Transit Custom. The light commercial vehicle (LCV) will be manufactured by Ford Otosan in Turkey. Midway through 2023 is when customers can expect to start receiving diesel-powered versions, while the PHEV and EV variants won’t arrive until the latter half of that year.
